Measurement uncertainty

The poverty estimates presented in the Scottish Poverty and income Inequality in Scotland publication are based on a sample survey and therefore there is some degree of statistical error, or uncertainty, around the estimates produced.  In order to understand this uncertaintly, confidence intervals can be produced to show the probable range of values within which the true value lies.  The document below provides further detail along with estimates for the key poverty statistics.
