Expenditure of Referendums (Scotland) Bill: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

You asked:
“I would like to know the cost of the 268 page document that was recently drawn up by the snp. I also would like to know who paid for the costs of this document, the research, the clerical, the copies and the distribution of the entire document.”

Following a query about your request, you subsequently confirmed on 6 June 2019:
“I believe the document in question is Referendums (Scotland) Bill. Published in may 2019”

Response

The Referendums (Scotland) Bill was published by the Scottish Government rather than the SNP and I am responding on that basis.

The work on the Referendums (Scotland) Bill was carried out by a range of civil servants as part of their normal duties. We are therefore unable to separately identify the staff costs of producing the document.

The only expenditure, which we can specifically identify, involved in producing the Bill, was the cost of the web conversion of the Equality Impact Assessment; the Child Rights and Wellbeing Impact Assessment; and the Business and Regulatory Impact Assessment which accompanied the Bill. The total cost of the web conversion was £713.09, including VAT.

All Scottish Government costs of producing the Referendums (Scotland) Bill, and its electronic distribution, were met from within the Scottish Government’s existing budget.
