Communications around incident of inappropriate treatment of cadavers, Dundee University: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

  • All inspection materials and the final report into an incident of cadavers being mistreated by medical students at Dundee University in November 2016.
  • All emails between HM Inspector of Anatomy for Scotland and Dundee University in relation to this incident. Please include all attachments and the content of those attachments.

Response

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not hold the information you have requested.  We have contacted the former HM Inspector of Anatomy to check if he holds records.  He has confirmed that he also does not hold records on this subject.  The former Inspector did note a phone call exchange between himself and the University of Dundee on the subject, however, as the University was conducting its own investigation he was satisfied no further investigation by himself was required.

The former inspector did follow this matter up, verbally, at his next inspection of the University of Dundee and received an update that the person/s responsible were not found.

This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested.
