Total cost of Excess Fares Allowance: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.


Information requested

 

You asked for the following questions to be answered for each year separately from 2019 back to 2009.

  1. The number of individuals in receipt of Excess Fares Allowance (EFA)?
  2. Total cost to Scottish Government of EFA for that year?
  3. Number of cases for each year where an employee has paid money back to Scottish Government in respect of EFA payments and the reason recorded for the payment being recovered by Scottish Government?
  4. Total amount recovered each year from overpayment - in total for each year and also broken down to show each case in a particular year?

Below is the information available in respect of your questions 1 and 2.  Unfortunately we do not hold readily retrievable data prior to July 2013 when our current payroll system which was introduced.  Likewise data in respect of questions 3 and 4 is not readily retrievable within the cost limit set by the Regulations. which is currently set at £600 (section 12).
