ICT expenditure broken down within number of categories: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

FOI reference: FOI/18/02043
Date received: 1 August 2018
Date responded: 28 August 2018
Information requested
Information regarding ICT expenditure broken down within a number of categories.
Response
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the costs of locating, retrieving and providing the information requested would exceed the upper cost limit of £600. This is because the bulk of ICT financial transactions do not easily fit within the categories you have requested and it would require a large amount of transactional analysis to convert the information into the categorisation you set out.
Under section 12 of FOISA public authorities are not required to comply with a request for information if the authority estimates that the cost of complying would exceed the upper cost limit, which is currently set at £600 by Regulations made under section 12.
I do though note that you stated in your request that “I fully expect that you may not be able to provide all the information I am looking for. If this is the case, please provide me with as much information as you can within the template” and accordingly, I have provided a sub-set of financial information mostly covering major projects, staff costs and other financial information that was easy to fit whin your categorisation. This information is provided at Annex A and also within a spreadsheet accompanying this document.
