Food and other essentials

You can now choose to visit shops yourself. This is why the weekly grocery boxes have now stopped.

Priority access to online supermarket delivery slots will continue for anyone who had signed up before August. We are considering what support needs to be available if our advice changes in the future.

If you buy online, or have someone who’s able to get the items you need, you can carry on getting things in this way. Some retailers are also offering gift card schemes to allow others to shop for you.

Your local authority can offer support if you cannot afford food. You can contact them via the free national helpline on 0800 111 4000.

You can also still arrange for your prescription to be delivered. This can be by someone you know or by someone from your pharmacy. Contact your hospital care team if you need your medicines or equipment delivered.
