Coronavirus (COVID-19): NHS pain management services

Framework to support the recovery and re-mobilisation of specialist pain management services.

The attached Framework supports the rapid and safe re-mobilisation of specialist pain management services in Scotland during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. It forms part of our Programme for Government and sets out immediate actions including a steer for health boards to treat pain management services as essential care.

It has been developed following feedback on a discussion document on resuming NHS pain management services, published in June 2020. This was distributed to services, including third sector organisations and to those with experience of chronic pain, to obtain views about the priorities for resuming services.

It has also been informed by expert guidance from the Faculty for Pain Medicine and the British Pain Society
