6. Concluding statement

In 2016, the Scottish Government funded Contact to ask families with disabled children and young people across Scotland about their information needs. They said they wanted a single resource that pointed to all the information and organisations they need.

To give these families what they asked for, we began to develop this information resource with help from a wide range of partners.

We asked families about the kind of information they would most like to access. This resource points to existing sources of information about these topics. We would like to know if we have covered all of the information that is important to you.

We know that access to clear and reliable information empowers families. Information needs to be shared properly and in ways which are accessible for everyone.

This resource aims to give information as inclusively as possible and give families more choice and control over the care and support that they need and are entitled to.
