Neil Wooding

Neil Wooding became a non-executive director of the Scottish Government in 2023.

Dr Neil Rhys Wooding CCIPD CBE has spent his career working within public service. His last role was as the Executive Director of Workforce Reform for the Cabinet Office. Prior to this, he was the Chief People Officer at the Ministry of Justice, responsible for prison, probation and court services across England and Wales. 

During his career, he has worked across the spectrum of public services and also in voluntary roles since the age of 17. He is currently Chair of the Wales Council for Voluntary Action.

Neil is a Companion of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development and was awarded a CBE in the 2022 New Year's Honours list for his outstanding work in the field of Equality and Social Justice.
