Below are the details of the third MPA workshop that was held in the James Watt Centre II at Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh on Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th October 2011:
This workshop explored:
- The considerable contribution of existing protected areas to the MPA network for their qualifying features and MPA search features
- Opportunities to enhance ecological value of some of these areas, through management and/or designation as a Nature Conservation MPA
- The contribution that least damaged/more natural locations and other managed areas could make in terms of MPA search features
- Which MPA search features remain as priorities going forward
By the end of the workshop, delegates were clear about which MPA search features will require the identification of new proposals for Nature Conservation MPAs to complete the ecologically coherent network.
A report from the 3rd workshop is now available and for any further information, please e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
