Seasonal Closed Areas

Fish in netSeasonal closures for 2016 have been rolled over for 2017.

  • The Long Hole (closed from 01 January to 28 February)
  • Coral Edge (closed from 15 January to 28 February)
  • Papa Bank (closed from 15 January to 15 March)
  • Firth of Clyde (closed from 14 February to 30 April) - more details are available here
  • Stanhope Ground (closed from 21 February to 30 April)

PLEASE NOTE: an additional closure was agreed with industry in January 2017:

  • North West Sule (closed from 01 February to 31 March)

Firth of Clyde Area Description
 
Fishing for sea fish by any method, by any British fishing boat, is prohibited in the area comprising that part of the Scottish zone contained within:
 
a) that part of ICES statistical rectangle 39E4 which lies to the east of the Kintyre peninsula and to the north of a straight line between 55º18’18”N, 05º38’50”W, and 55º00’30”N, 05º09’24”W, and
 
b) that part of ICES statistical rectangle 39E4 which lies to the north of a straight line between 55º17’57”N, 05º47’54”W and 55º00’00”N, 05º21’00”W and to the south of a straight line between 55º18’18”N, 05º38’50”W and 55º00’30”N, 05º09’24”W.
