Infectious pancreatic necrosis is a highly contagious viral disease of the Birnavirus family containing double stranded RNA. It has a wide geographical distribution and is prevalent under farmed or hatchery conditions. IPNV can be transmitted both horizontally and vertically.
Clinical signs include darkening pigmentation, distended abdomen and spiral swimming.
The diagnostic methods include:
- Virus Isolation
- Immunofluorescence antibody test (IFAT)
- Enyzme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)
- Molecular and sequencing
