This capital item is available for the removal of thicket-stage tree crops between 3 and 6 metres high to enhance biodiversity, a designed landscape or recreational areas.
You must prepare a plan showing the area designated for tree removal and giving the management reasons for the operation. This must be agreed with the Forestry Commission Scotland.
If felling conifers, you must ensure that stump protection procedures are followed. For safety reasons, cut trees must not be left hanging or leaning on adjacent trees.
You should ensure that the trees are cut as close as possible to the ground (below the bottom ring of branches) to ensure no regrowth.
