Rights to Buy Land

CRTBCommunity Right to Buy

The Community Right to Buy is under Part 2 of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003, as amended by the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015.  Community Right to Buy provides for communities throughout Scotland, to register a community interest in land and if successful the opportunity to buy that land when it is offered for sale.

Croft Housing - ScalpayCrofting Community Right to Buy

The Crofting Community Right to Buy is under Part 3 of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003, as amended by the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015. The Crofting Community Right to Buy gives crofting communities in the crofting counties, the right to buy the croft land where they live and work.  This is in effect a forced sale as it does not require a willing seller.

We expect the amended legislation to be in force by spring 2017.
