Rural Business Support - New Entrants

New Entrants to Farming

The Scottish Government fully recognises the important role that new entrants and young farmers play to ensure that farming remains dynamic and competitive.

The Scottish Government has put in place a number of incentives through the Scotland Rural Development Programme. Amongst the options available is start-up grant supported by separate assistance to further develop businesses.

There is information on the support available to new entrants at the Rural Payments and Services website.

As part of the Scottish Government’s Veterinary & Advisory Services Programme, (link) a support programme also helps deliver the skills required to ensure that new entrants to Scottish Farming have the capability and confidence to develop and build successful businesses.
