Results of the Consultation on Possibilities for Better Regulation

The UK consultation was issued by Defra (now known as Fera) PVS on 11 December 2006. The purpose of the consultation was to seek the industries views on the possibility for better regulation in number of areas including national listing, seed certification, seed potato certification and plant breeders' rights. 30 responses in total were received and a summary of these responses, together with the government response, can be viewed here. Food Chain Evaluation Consortium (FCEC) qualitative questionnaires

The UK response to the Food Chain Evaluation Consortium (FCEC) qualitative questionnaires used by the FCEC to evaluate the Community acquis on the marketing of Seed and Plant Propagating Materials (S&PM) can be viewed here.

Next Steps

Based on the evaluation results and stakeholders consultation the Commission developed a S&PM Action Plan. The intention is to produce formal proposals for legislative change in 2011.
