Although agriculture is a devolved matter, it was agreed that to try run a separate National List or Plant Breeder's Rights Office in Scotland would not be cost effective or provide any benefit what so ever to Scottish breeders. Therefore, the list for agricultural species will remain as the UK National List.
The Plant Variety Seeds office, Fera are responsible for the day to day running for any National List or Plant Breeders' Right's matters.
Any technical matters are discussed at the National List Seeds Committee, where each of the devolved authorities are represented by staff who have a scientific/agronomical background.
Policy or administration issues are managed by the Plant Variety Seeds Committee. Like the NLSC, membership is made up of representatives from Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland and staff from PVS. All members are from a admin/policy background.
