Certifying Seed in Scotland
In order to market Seed in Scotland it requires to be certified. Anyone wishing to grow seed to produce further generations of seed should contact SASA (Science and Advice for Scottish Agriculture) who are responsible for the day to day running of the seed certification scheme.
SASA also offer a range of training courses and examinations related to the marketing of seed -
- Crop Inspectors
- Seed Samplers
- Seed Testing
In order to carry out a seed certification activity, firms must be registered with the appropriate Authority. Anyone in Scotland wishing to register as a Seed Merchant, Seed Processor or Seed Packer should complete the attached form SE1 in conjunction with the guidance document.
Any information required regarding Seed Sampling or Crop Inspection should be obtained from SASA website.
