Seed Testing Station

Council Directive 2004/117/EC permits Scottish Ministers to license a seed testing station to carry out a range of seed testing and administrative procedures.

All licensed seed testing stations must have an Analyst in Charge. Training and exams required to be undertaken to become an Seed Analyst and/or an Analyst in Charge can be provided by the Official Seed Testing Station at SASA.

The Seed (Registration, Licensing and Enforcement) (Scotland) Regulations 2006 provides the legislation to which the applicant of the licence and/or the Analyst in Charge are required to work to.

The application form and guidance notes are available for anyone wishing to apply for a license to run a Licensed Seed Testing Station (LSTS). There is an annual fee for an LSTS licence and a through-put fee for each sample tested.
