BCMS is a specialised cattle tracing organisation for Great Britain which operates the Cattle Tracing System (CTS) on behalf of Scottish, English and Welsh Ministers. It is based at Curwen Road, Workington, Cumbria CA14 2DD and has been operational since 28th September 1998. The BCMS website can be found at www.bcms.gov.uk

The main role of BCMS is to:

  • Maintain the CTS database, which is a register of the births, deaths and movements of all cattle born or imported into Great Britain
  • Issue cattle passports
  • Process information about cattle movements received from keepers
  • Respond to customer enquiries

A dedicated HELPLINE (0345 050 1234) is the main point of contact for BCMS, and all calls are charged at the local rate.

Monday - Friday 8.30 am to 5.00 pm
