Environmental risk assessment of GM crops

The Scottish Government commissioned ADAS UK Ltd to carry out a study focussing on possible environmental risks associated with the cultivation of GM crops in Scotland. The study entitled, ' Environmental risk assessment of GM crops in Scotland' excluded potential risks to human health and did not consider other aspects of GM crops such as animal feed, food safety and labelling, socio-economic or ethical issues.

For this study, the project team identified crops and GM traits that might become commercially available for cultivation in the next 5 to 10 years and where conventional (non-GM) varieties are currently grown in Scotland.
