School Leavers (Christmas)

Survey Background

THIS COLLECTION HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED FROM 2017. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION PLEASE CONTACT ScotXed@gov.scot.

The purpose of this collection is to obtain accurate data on pupils in each school year who leave school having attained the minimum school leaving age.

Data will be collected from all secondary schools (Publicly Funded, Independent and Special) who have pupils aged over 15 years.

There are two leaving dates in the academic year - the last day in May (summer leaving date), and the last day before the Christmas holidays (winter leaving date). Information on school leavers is collected twice during the academic year - the Term 1 or winter leavers are collected in January and covers pupils who left school between census date and the end of the calendar year. Term 2 and 3 leavers are collected in September and covers pupils who left school between the end of the calendar year and the date of the next census.
