The details of all schools (and other educational establishments) are held by the ScotXed Unit on our Scottish Educational Establishment Database. It is essential that this database is correct and up-to-date, as the information it holds underpins many areas of work on education in Scotland, such as the annual pupil census.
To ensure that ScotXed and local authorities have access to the same information about school establishments on a timely basis, we are continuing this year with a rolling collection, which allows you to update your establishments data at any point in the year using ProcXed. There will remain an annual deadline by which time your local authority must confirm that the data reflects the known status of your schools for the forthcoming academic year. This year the deadline is Monday 31st July 2017.
So, we have moved from a fixed point collection to a real time all-establishments collection, and have pre-populated ProcXed with all of the data we hold about open, mothballed and closed centres.
The form works similarly to previous years’ Openings and Closures surveys although we have made improvements (including, for example, a search facility for finding schools) and have pre-populated the form with all of the data we hold about open, mothballed and closed centres. Please refer to the Guidance Notes available via the link below.
After the annual submission of data, we will re-open the form allowing you to make any updates in the course of the year as they arise.
After the survey deadline of 31 July, we will email you to confirm arrangements for the ongoing rolling availability of the form.
