This section sets out some of the events that members of the school statistics team in Education Analytical Services have attended.

Past Events

1st July 2010

27th January 2010

This was a networking event organised by the School Estates policy colleagues to present the School Estates strategy for the coming years. Statisticians were invited to present a talk on school estates publication, including uses of data, how it is processed and common quality pitfalls.

Among the audience were Local Authority representatives from across Scotland.

This presentation, as much as it was aimed at general awareness of data processing, was also tailored to improve quality of returns.

The presentation Powerpoint slides can be accessed here.

School Meals APSE presentation - Dunfermline, Fife (22nd September 2010)

The purpose of this visit was to give a summary of the results of the School Meals in Scotland 2010 Survey to the Association of Public Service Excellence (APSE) group.

APSE is a not for profit local government body working with 300 councils across the UK. It is involved in promoting excellence and hosting a network of front line services such as waste and refuse collection, parks and environmental services, leisure, school meals, cleaning, housing and building maintenance.

Present at the presentation were Local Authority representatives and people who work directly under the APSE organisation in Scotland, as well as some policy colleagues from the Scottish Government in the Food and Drinks Division.

The presentation was well received with a few questions from the attendees and also request for additional statistics including UK-wide comparisons.
