During 2014/15 the total rate of absence for primary schools was 4.9% with 0.01% due to temporary exclusions. The percentage attendance in primary schools by local authority ranged from 93.9% (Glasgow City) to 96.7% (East Renfrewshire).
The total rate of absence for secondary schools was 8.1%, with 0.07% due to temporary exclusions. The percentage attendance in secondary schools by local authority ranged from 89.6% (West Dunbartonshire) to 94.4% (East Renfrewshire).
In general, schools with higher levels of deprivation had higher levels of absence, although there were many schools which did not follow this trend. 5.5% of pupils had a perfect attendance record.
