Statistical datasets on the Scottish Environment are available from the Scottish Environment Statistics Online database.
The Scottish Environment Statistics Online (SESO) database has around 100 Excel spreadsheets covering a variety of environmental statistics. In addition statistics on various drivers of environmental change such as population and energy generation are held in the Supplementary tables.
The statistics can be accessed by either downloading the Excel spreadsheets or by selecting various criteria such as 'year'. The statistics are accompanied by commentary, source details and links to related information.
For some of the datasets on SESO there is also a link to a summary sheet. This sheet has a chart and commentary and will be similar in format to that appearing in past issues of Key Scottish Environment Statistics but based on the most recent data.
Scottish Environment Statistics Online is an official statistics publication, and Key Scottish Environment Statistics is a classed as national statistics.
Official and National Statistics are produced to high professional standards set out in the Code of Practice for Official Statistics. Both undergo regular quality assurance reviews to ensure that they meet customer needs and are produced free from any political interference.
Statistics assessed, or subject to assessment, by the UK Statistics Authority carry the National Statistics label, a stamp of assurance that the statistics have been produced and explained to high standards and that they serve the public good.
