Police Strength

As at 30 September 2016, there were 17,245 full-time equivalent (FTE) police officers in Scotland.  This is an increase of 1,011 police officers from the position at 31 March 2007 (+6.2 per cent). Police officer numbers have increased by 3 FTE officers in the last quarter since 30 June 2016, and decreased by 16 FTE officers in the last year since 30 September 2015 (-0.1 per cent).
