Fishing Effort and Quantity and Value of Landings by ICES Rectangle

These datasets provide fishing effort and landings data (tonnage and value) by ICES rectangles (geographic areas). These are published twice a year in line with the annual National Statistics publications of the provisional statistics and final statistics for the previous year's data. Provisional statistics (p) are published in April/May and final statistics are published in September.

The latest available data are the provisional 2017 statistics which were updated in May 2018.

** Note that from year 2015, quantity and value maps are now available to view and download from National Marine Plan Interactive (NMPi) http://marine.gov.scot/information/fishing-tonnage-effort-and-change-maps

*(p) = provisional statistics.

Provisional statistics are published to provide access to data as soon as possible. Due to time lags with regards to the input of landings and sale information, especial for shellfish, provisional statistics may not be complete.

Final statistics are published in September of the year after which the statistics relate. Final statistics are considered complete and have undergone stringent quality assurance.

Both provisional and final statistics are accredited as National Statistics and have undergone rigorous assessment by the UK Statistics Authority for their trustworthiness, quality and value in line with the Code of Practice for Official Statistics.
