The Scottish Government began charging for intercountry adoption services on 1 January 2013. The UK Government and many other countries have been charging for intercountry adoption services for some time now.
Local Authorities and voluntary adoption agencies know about this recent change.
Applications received by the Intercountry Adoption Team before 1 January 2013 will not be subject to the charge and there will be no charge for outbound adoptions.
The fee the Scottish Government charge for their intercountry adoption services is £1675 per application and will be subject to a means test to ensure that families on low incomes are not discouraged from applying.
