Child Trafficking

Human Trafficking is about the illegal trade of human beings for exploitation.  In 2015 we introduced the Human Trafficking and Exploitation (Scotland) Act 2015 which includes measures to impose tougher penalties on perpetrators of human trafficking and a higher standard of care to victims of human trafficking, and we are currently working to implement these changes.

We are also working with partners to develop the children’s aspects of Scotland’s first Human Trafficking and Exploitation Strategy which we hope to publish for consultation in Autumn 2016.  We also plan to update the 2012 Age Assessment Practice Guidance.
