The consultation on the proposal for a Children and Young People Bill ran for 12 weeks, from 4 July until 25 September 2012. A total of 300 responses were received from a range of individuals and organisations from the public, private and third sectors. Non-confidential responses were published on 30 October 2012.

The analysis of consultation responses was published on 4 December 2012. (An easy read version of the analysis is also available.)

The Scottish Government Response to the consultation was published on 22 March 2013. This set out the Scottish Government’s response to issues raised through the consultation, and sets out further detail on how we intend to proceed with the proposals. An easy-read version of the Government response was published on 5 April 2013. The Bill will be introduced to Parliament in 2013.

National enagement events

During the formal public consultation period, we ran a wide range of events, seminars and meetings across the country. Over 800 stakeholders, from across the public and voluntary sectors, attended six national engagement events and we also ran smaller seminars and meetings over the summer with organisations likely to be impacted by the Bill or who had a particular interest.
