Forced Marriage Network

Forced Marriage Network

In 2005 the Scottish Government established the Forced Marriage Network to bring together the key statutory and voluntary agencies in Scotland to share expertise and knowledge and progress work to tackle forced marriage.

All the minutes of the forced marriage networks meetings are available here.

Remit

The Forced Marriage Network will:

  • bring together the key statutory and voluntary agencies to share their expertise and good practice
  • work to raise the practical and policy issues of forced marriage, including exploring the Network's role in the development of service provision to those affected by forced marriage, as well as educational/awareness raising work
  • inform the Scottish Government's consultation on whether to introduce civil legislation on forced marriage
