Summary: Gender and Third Sector

  • In 2015, 67% of the people employed in the third sector were women, compared with 64% in the public sector and 42% in the private sector.

  • In 2015, a higher percentage of women (30%) than men (24%) volunteered. Between 2008 and 2015 the proportion of women who had volunteered in the last 12 months has been consistently higher than men.
