We must ensure that the police, fire and rescue services are responsive and support them to do their work effectively.

Actions

  • we reformed the police service to protect and improve local services by reducing duplication and enhancing access to specialist equipment and expertise. The new single service is Police Scotland and was established in 2013
  • we reformed the fire and rescue service in 2013. The new single fire and rescue service is the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service
