The Justice Digital Strategy
The vision for the digital strategy for justice in Scotland is to have modern, user-focussed justice systems which use digital technology to deliver simple, fast and effective justice at the best cost.
Why is this happening now?
The way we live and work is being changed more and more by digital technology. We want to use that technology to make our justice system better and prepare us for the future. We believe that we can improve the quality of justice services and lower their cost by changing the way that we run the system.
What will this mean for you?
We know that people can find it difficult to understand how the justice system works. You may not know who you need to speak to or where you need to go to get help or advice, or what your rights are.
We are going to use digital technology to make it easier for you to get information on justice services and how to use them. All of this information will be put in one place so that it is easier for you to find and understand. Justice organisations are also thinking about how they run their services and how they can make them better.
We will make sure that you know what options you have, what you need to do and what your rights are.
When will you see changes start to happen?
The changes are happening now. Some of this work will be behind the scenes but other parts, like the Public Information Portal, will have a direct effect on the way you find out about and use justice services.
Get involved and learn more...
We want to get ideas and comments from the public and we will be asking you to comment on the work we are planning to do. We will put more information about this on the Justice and Safety blog as the projects progress.
