Scottish Government Review of Civil Partnership

On 22 September 2015, the Scottish Government published a consultation on civil partnership.  The consultation closed on 15 December 2015.  We have published an analysis of responses and the responses which we have permission to publish.  We will announce our decision about the future of civil partnership in due course.

The consultation is part of the Government’s review of the Civil Partnership Act 2004 in Scotland.  The review will assess the operation and future of civil partnership in Scotland.  The Government has published the remit for the review.

The Scottish Government will not require existing civil partners to marry or to dissolve their civil partnership.
