Scotland has many historical links with South Asia with a large diasporan community living in Scotland. In recognition of these links, the Scottish Government opened a funding round in 2010 with funding awarded to Scottish based NGOs to deliver projects in the South Asian countries of Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. These projects are all due to come to an end in March 2013, and the Scottish Government has now launched a new funding round to renew its commitment to the area.
The South Asia 2013 funding round is focussed on projects in Bangladesh, Pakistan and the Indian states of Orissa, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. The funding will be available during the 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16 financial years with the projects due to finish by the end of March 2016.
Please note that the 2013 South Asia funding round has now closed for applications. The applications are now being independently assessed with successful applicants being informed in April 2013.
The Scottish Government together with independent assessors IOD PARC, the Scotland Malawi Partnership and NIDOS held an information day on the funding round on 23 October. Presentations from the day are now available on the website.
A number of questions regarding the funding round have now been received through the South Asia mailbox. Answers to these questions alongside those asked at the information day can now be found on Frequently Asked Questions section of the website.
