Completing the Digital Single Market in Europe is one of the key priorities for the European Commission. By fostering a digital single market, it is estimated that up to €250 billion in additional growth can be realised along with the creation of hundreds of thousands of new jobs, and a vibrant knowledge-based society.
There is a great deal of alignment between the Digital Agenda for Europe and the objectives outlined in Scotland’s Digital Future, which seeks to transform Scotland into a world-leading digital nation by 2020. In several areas of devolved competence the Scottish Government and our partners are actively involved in European initiatives such as the Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs, the European Innovation Partnership for Smart Cities and Communities and the European Innovation Partnership for Healthy and Active Ageing.
