Establishing the Quality Alliance Board was an early commitment in the Healthcare Quality Strategy. The Quality Alliance Board comprises strategic leaders from NHSScotland and key stakeholder organisations, such as COSLA, the third sector and patient representatives.
The Quality Alliance Board supports and drives the implementation of the Quality Strategy and, provides regular updates on progress to the Health and Social Care Management Board and to Scottish Government Ministers.
It is chaired by Director General for Health and Social Care and Chief Executive of NHSScotland, and it meets every three months. Further information on the Board, such as their remit, membership and minutes of their meetings is available.
The Board agreed that four Delivery Groups were to be established (Safe, Effective, Person-centred and Infrastructure) to ensure quality improvement is at the heart of all healthcare. The work of the Delivery Groups also aligns closely with the Efficiency Portfolio Board.
The Safe, Effective and Person-centred Delivery Groups are responsible for driving forward progress towards achievement of their particular Quality Ambition.
The Infrastructure Delivery Group co-ordinates activity on six workstreams which support delivery across the Quality Ambitions. These are eHealth, Governance, Communication, Measurement, Workforce 2020 Vision and the Quality Improvement Hub.
