Creating a new food body consultation

On February 28, 2013 the Scottish Government published a 12-week consultation on the scope and responsibilities of the new food body.

The consultation on creating a new food body asked for creative and innovative ideas about how the new food body could do things differently to better serve consumers in Scotland.

The consultation closed on May 22, 2013. We received 127 written responses, many of them very detailed which reflects the interest in the new food body from those responding or who attended meetings. An independent analysis of the  written responses was commissioned to carefully consider all the evidence and ideas:

We also held events and had discussions with a range of stakeholders including food industry representatives, public health professionals, consumer representative bodies and third sector bodies whose work touches on food and health.

In December 2013, the Scottish Government published its response to the consultation which sets out how it will proceed following the consultation and stakeholder events:
