Conduct of those not covered by Ethical Standards Framework

The Ethical Standards in Public Life etc. (Scotland) Act 2000 introduced Codes of Conduct for local authority councillors and members of certain public bodies. However, Codes of Conduct do exist for other public service figures.

If you have a complaint about an MSP breaching the code of conduct for members of the Scottish Parliament, you should contact the Scottish Public Standards Commissioner by writing to:

Complaint about public services not covered by the Ethical Standards Framework

If you have a complaint that is not covered by the ethical standards framework, there is most likely an organisation which you can submit your complaint to. Audit Scotland has published a leaflet entitled ' Route Map: Your guide to complaining about Public Services in Scotland' which explains who to contact depending on who and what your complaint is about.
