To assist contracting authorities to identify and address how they can optimise economic, social and environmental outcomes of procurement activity, a series of tools have been produced to assist the sustainable procurement process as the means by which contracting authorities may comply with the sustainable procurement duty.
The tools have been tailored to reflect Scottish priorities and to support the requirements of the Act. This approach has been agreed across the public sector in Scotland through the Public Procurement Reform Programme.
The sustainable procurement process contains four key elements:
- Sustainability test
- Lifecycle impact mapping
- Scottish flexible framework.
