Lobbying (Scotland) Bill
The Lobbying (Scotland) Bill will improve public awareness of lobbying activity directed at MSPs and Ministers by introducing a register which complements existing parliamentary and governmental transparency mechanisms.
The Bill follows an inquiry by the Scottish Parliament's Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee into lobbying. The Committee concluded that legislation in this area was necessary and appropriate. The Committee invited the Government to consider the proposals set out in its report, dated February 6, 2015 as the basis for the Bill.
