Strategic Environmental Assessment Determination
Environmental Assessment (Scotland) Act 2005
Section 8 (1)
Proposed Wildlife and Natural Environment Bill
The Scottish Government carried out a screening assessment in April 2009 with respect to its proposed Wildlife and Natural Environment Bill. The Bill seeks to modernise legislation on management of wild deer and game law; improve legislative provision for invasive non-native species; relocate administrative function on species licensing and change protection given to certain species; introduce accreditation requirements for those who set snares; and increase flexibility for muirburn.
The Scottish Government's Rural Directorate has determined in consultation with the Consultation Authorities that the prospective Wildlife and Natural Environment Bill is unlikely to have significant environmental effects in terms of the scope of the 2005 Act and that an Strategic Environmental Assessment is therefore not required.
