Give us your view

The Scottish Government is seeking businesses views on the problems associated with specific regulations, for example those which have unintended consequences. This information will be used to help identify any regulations which need reviewed; may no longer be required; or may simply need to be applied in a different way.

Let your voice be heard and email us about the specific regulatory issues your business faces. Please tell us about:

  • Specific regulatory barriers which restrict your business growth or are a particular burden to your business, and why
  • Solutions which would help address these problems.

The European Commission - REFIT Agenda

REFIT is the European Commission's Regulatory Fitness and Performance programme which identifies opportunities to reduce regulatory burdens and simplify existing laws in order to ensure that the objectives of the legislation or policy can be reached in a more effective and efficient way.

The  EC is keen to publicise the work of REFIT and get more feedback from SMEs specifically on how to make EU laws more effective and efficient. The Commission is particularly interested in comments on areas which are considered too complex, burdensome or in need of improvement.

The relevant suggestions will be submitted to the newly established REFIT platform. The Platform, which composes of representatives of Member States and stakeholders from business, trade unions and civil society, will assess the merits of the collected comments and, on that basis, will make concrete suggestions to the Commission. The Commission will react to all the Platform's suggestions and systematically explain how it intends to follow up. The Commission will invite Member States to do the same in cases where suggestions relate to national transposition and implementation.

Suggestions can be made at the following website: http://ec.europa.eu/priorities/democratic-change/better-regulation/feedback/index_en.htm
