Employability Strategic Intervention

The Employability Strategic Intervention (SI) was one of the first to be approved as part of Scotland’s 2014-2020 European Structural and Investment Fund programmes.

To date £59 million in European Social Funds has been approved to Lead Partners Skills Development Scotland(SDS) and a large number of Scotland’s local authorities up to the end of 2018. Lead Partners will be responsible for awarding funds to individual projects, working with the Managing Authority to ensure only eligible activity receives financial support.

The Employability SI also includes £12.08 million allocated to SDS to operate a National Third Sector Fund.

The strategic aims for the Employability SI are:

  • To promote sustainable and quality employment and support labour mobility;

  • To provide direct routes to sustainable employment for unemployed and inactive people with multiple barriers;

  • To increase the skills and labour market opportunities for employed people with multiple barriers.

For further information about the National Third Sector fund please visit Skills Development Scotland or contact your local authority.
