As part of the groundbreaking Curriculum for Excellence, young people are encouraged to acquire knowledge and skills to help them understand how food can affect everything around them.
Additional funding to Education Scotland helps teachers make the most of 'Food' as a topic that can be studied across the whole curriculum. Education Scotland have also produced resources that aim to support learning about Scotland’s food and drink through well planned interdisciplinary learning.
Partnership working between schools and industry
Scotland's Curriculum for Excellence states 'Creating strong partnerships with a range of organisations helps to deliver a more personalised learning experience for every child and young person'.
By using food in its widest context (social, health, environmental and economic) as a vehicle for learning, the food and drink industry and other related organisations can support schools to encourage pupil engagement and learning.
