Regulatory Guidance: Geothermal Heat in Scotland

A guidance document has been prepared by the Scottish Government, in liaison with key stakeholders, outlining the regulatory framework for exploring and exploiting Scotland’s geothermal resource.  It provides a point of reference for those considering undertaking an onshore geothermal project in Scotland but is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all relevant legislation.  It highlights the key primary and secondary legislation specific or relevant to projects involving the exploration and extraction of geothermal heat from the ground.  It also provides links to further reading.
