This invitation for financial support has been designed to accelerate the delivery of large scale transformational low carbon infrastructure projects in Scotland.
Projects must be of a significant scale, based in Scotland and have a total project value of up to £40 million. This LCITP invitation will provide financial support for up to 50% of the total capital value of the project (up to £20 million), where capital value covers financial costs, (such as purchasing of physical assets) associated with the build and installation of an exemplar project. The successful project(s) will be innovative in design, incorporate one or more low carbon technologies, and demonstrate economic, social and low carbon benefits for Scotland.
This invitation has been designed to encourage innovation of both design and business models, along with aggregation at scale. The invitation targets proven technologies with a focus on low carbon and/or renewable electricity and heat generation solutions for Scotland that will contribute to our wider ambitions to tackle Climate Change.
All projects successful at Stage 1 Expression of Interest were invited to submit a full application. A Final Assessment Panel, chaired by Chris Stark (Director for Energy & Climate Change, Scottish Government), sat on 12 and 13 December. A formal due diligence process of recommended projects was then undertaken.
