The Scottish Government has produced a Town Centre Action plan in response to the report and recommendations from the External Advisory Group published in July this year.
The Town Centre Action Plan outlines the importance of securing the future of town centres and sets out a cross-government response to the External Advisory Group’s report.
All directorates have been engaged across the Scottish Government to identify policies, programmes and strategies which reflect the recommendations of the advisory group. In fitting with the advisory group’s report, the 'Town Centre First Principle' is at the heart of the action plan. The plan picks up the challenge to central government and aims to add stimulus to encourage and support action across public and private sectors to put the health of town centres at the forefront of decision-making processes.
